Course Information
The Maine Orthopaedic Review Course has provided continuing orthopaedic education for over 40 years. The course presents a unique opportunity for study and review for residents, board candidates, and practicing orthopaedists looking toward recertification. The course is a comprehensive review with strong sections in pediatric orthopaedics, trauma, bone tumors, metabolic bone disease, and pathology.
There will be case reviews including x-rays and pathology slides; some mock oral exams are provided. The rural campus of Colby College offers an ideal atmosphere for study and recreation. Spend two weeks with us in Maine this June and July!
The Review begins with registration on Sunday, June 19th @ 3:00 pm. in Cotter Union. Classes are held daily from Monday, June 20th to Thursday, June 30th, except Sunday, June 26th, which is free. Morning classes generally run from 7:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with the afternoon classes from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. There is a half hour coffee break each morning and generally a 15 minute break in the afternoon.
All classes will be held in the air-conditioned Given Auditorium in the Bixler Art and Music Center. Casual clothing is the style for all occasions.
Computer-assisted Orthopaedic Education
The computer component of the course provides a unique opportunity for interactive, self-paced individual education with self-assessment exams and online references, from 3 p.m. June 19th to 5:00 p.m. June 30th.
Computer labs with approximately 40 public workstations are available weekdays from 8 a.m. to midnight. Participants may bring an ethernet-equipped or wireless computer which can increase access (24/7) to these review materials from on-campus locations. Computer review materials are not available off-campus.

Course Objectives
The Maine Orthopaedic Review Course is designed to meet the needs of the board candidate or practicing orthopaedist for a thorough review of current orthopaedic practice.
The registrants will:
- increase their fund of knowledge through daily lectures and course syllabus,
- improve their orthopaedic x-ray interpretative skills through daily unknown cases and discussions with orthopaedic radiologist,
- examine unknown cases, interactive computer programs with high quality images, and participate in discussions with orthopaedic pathologists,
- improve their ability to apply the above skills and knowledge in an examination setting through the use of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Self-Assessment and Specialty Examinations in the computer laboratory.
Case Presentations and Discussions
This is a wonderful opportunity for the Part II taker to present cases to an instructor and the class, receive review and feedback regarding the case and/or watch others present cases.

Registration for the course can be done here. On campus housing assignments will take place upon arrival at Colby College.
Accreditation
Colby has been host to educational programs for the medical and allied health professions since 1945 and is the only private liberal arts college in the nation accredited to offer Category 1 credit for the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association.
Colby designates this CME activity as meeting the criteria for 70 hours in Category 1 of the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association.
Transportation
